Raising kids without your mom…
I was just looking through pictures last night of all the things my kids were busy with this last year. Man the years are just flying by. It seems the older they get the faster they go. There was a time when I didn’t know how I was going to function with out my moms advice. She been gone for over 11 years and there is still not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. Every activity the kids are in she’s missing, I’m always second guessing my parenting because I can’t seek her advice. When I’m truly seeking advice I know she finds a way to share her opinion with me by through someone else.
This is what I know…. My mom was a wonderful influence on many and because of that she had created a community of women that I can look to for advice. Women that are there for us when we need them and support us when we need them the most. People who show up without being asked and people that my kids consider grandparents even though they are not blood.

Hair cuts…
Growing up my mom always cut my dads hair. I honestly don’t know if he ever got it cut in town when we were growing up. Anyway when I we got married I started cutting Brians hair. I actually really enjoyed it. Eventually cutting the boys too. It was time consuming. I understand why people go to town to get their hair cut. Then the boys decided they just wanted an easy buzz cut.
That was great for a few years but B is wanting more. In the past couple years he decided to grow his hair out and get a perm. Yes we cut off his beautiful hair. Anyway Last night I got to cut my oldest boys hair(Bradley). I didn’t do to bad and it’s for sure needs a touch up but it was fun.
I do enjoy it just wasn’t thinking I’d be doing that after I came in from chores at 8:30. So covered in cow pop and all we did it. Oh and we always do the most of the hair cut outside to leave the mess out there. Then finish it up inside.
Things I’m going to need for this touch up.
-hair scissors that cuts
-a better buzzer
I need some suggestions. These Walmart buzzers are not cutting it and I always have terrible luck with them lasting. Or maybe it’s care. Any way give me all your tips in the comments🤗

Surprise….
We put the tin on the chicken hut tonight while you were planting corn dad. Hope we did it right😂. Hope Brian doesn’t get mad. I’m sure it’s not the way he would have done it.
Maybe some day we will actually put chicken in it🤣
T minus 5 days until kids are home for the summer……
Are you worried about keeping your kids busy and not on electronics all summer?
We’ve all heard about the dreaded summer slide right. If your like me summer gets busy and you unintentionally keep your kids busy with other things or let them watch a little extra tv.
Did you know a recent study showed that students in 3rd and 5th grade nation wide lost an average of 20% of reading skills and 27% of math skills just over summer break? What???? That’s insane!!!!!
You might be thinking we are already so busy this summer I just don’t know how we can fit in anything else. This is why I love our learning activities. They not only keeps kids off devices but help them work on those skills. I’ll be sharing some tips and solutions for preventing the summer slide soon.
I want to help you thrive not survive this Summer.

Change….
Since life has gone back to normal after all the Covid shut downs we have been none stop busy. My kids are at an age where they are in lots of activities and as they get older I know there will be only more of this.
Things that have lacked because of this busy season: my garden, my health, my time to read, my time alone, my friendships…. I think you know where I’m going. Life just seems so darn busy.
It’s crazy how this season of our life can consume us. I read something recently that stated you need to live in your season not through it and that’s really got me focusing more on myself. I also really want to show my kids the importance of this as we move into summer and will all be under 1 roof 24/7.
I’m ready to start thriving through this season instead of just surviving. I’ve been creating system in the last few weeks that will allow for more of that me time.
Are you in the crazy busy momma season? Tell me are you surviving or thriving? If your thriving give a tip to help me through this season. Or if you’ve been there I’d love to hear how you made life in general flow easily.
Making a difference….
I never imagined I would make such a difference in my community when I started in this business. I joined to get more books for my kids but this business lead me to give back and I had no idea that was even an option.
Being a person who loves to give back but new financially we could not give as much as I wanted when I started doing fundraisers and book drives for local organizations that filled my cup overwhelmingly.
As I hosted parties I saw how others could also build their home libraries and I was literally hook.
Tonight there is a short 20 minute zoom call that can show you how this business could make a difference in your life. Plus you could earn free books. If your thinking about it this is a great time to check it out and ask questions too.

Chicken Update….. growing so fast. We moved them into a dog kennel and it’s time to get going on making them. Permanent home. They will soon out grow this area. #farmlife #chickens
Be sure to thank your child’s teachers this week. A quick email or a message saying thanks will be very appreciate. They put in so many hours outside the classroom even after their long days at work.
